It’s hard to make medical decisions as a parent — now, more than ever before. Who can we trust to tell us the truth about the products on the market? How can we be certain that our doctors are providing us with informed consent? There are tons of studies out there but no clear-cut explanation of which ones were done well, without financial conflicts of interest and offer or contribute to the most comprehensive data. We’re getting information overload without any real material to work off of.
At the end of the day, the moms and dads get to make the decisions they think are best for their family. They’ll listen to their practitioner’s advice, sift through a considerable amount of research and ask their friends and acquaintances for their perspectives — but, at the end of the day, their word is final. And because a choice must be made, to opt in or opt out, they deserve to have access to trustworthy and transparent information.
