It was 2002 when their daughter was entering her first year of college. In August, the young woman got a meningitis shot, and by Thanksgiving, was spending “a lot of time in the hospital, in and out of ERs.” According to the injured girl’s parents, “The hospital … didn’t know what to do with her.
