‘Covid Shots Lost My Nephew’s Day Placement’
Before his COVID vaccination, this interviewee’s nephew had down syndrome, autism, epilepsy and a pacemaker. He was enrolled in a day program for kids with neurological conditions. After the booster shot, his seizures worsened, and he was asked to leave the program as a result. The medical professionals decided to separate the right and left hemispheres of this man’s brain to lessen the effects of epilepsy. In this video, his aunt reflects on how things may have been different if informed consent was part of the discussion prior to the injection.
