Dr. Jeffrey Singer Testifies on the ‘Assault’ of Physician Autonomy + the Erosion of the Doctor-Patient Relationship

While the government continues to utilize the COVID crisis to insert itself into the middle of confidential doctor-patient relationships, according to Dr. Jeffrey Singer, this interference is nothing novel.

“While the intrusion into the practice of medicine accelerated during the pandemic, it is not new. Government agencies, including law enforcement agencies, have been directly or indirectly telling doctors how to practice medicine for over 100 years,” Dr. Singer testified during the Select Subcommittee hearing on the coronavirus pandemic last Thursday.

The continual effort on the part of the government to control medical professionals and their ability to treat patients is a troubling trend that interferes with the sacred doctor-patient relationship.

“In my 40 years of private practice I have had first-hand experience of government agencies progressively intruding into physicians' clinical decision-making and often casting a chilling effect on what clinicians feel comfortable communicating to their patients,” warned Dr. Singer.
